Addressing your views

The world is rife with injustice; it permeates all societies and transcends nationality, race, caste or creed. It’s an unfortunately ever-present factor of the world in which we live. It’s entirely understandable that being exposed to (or having to witness) injustice can produce a passionate response. Finding an appropriate outlet for ones feelings is an important factor in dealing with an issue, in order to enact any sort of positive change.

Everyone has a voice. The establishment of social media creates a solid platform that people can utilize to promote their views in an constructive, appropriate and positive way.

Appropriate methods:

  • Write a letter
  • Create a petition: https://www.change.org/
  • Express your views online through social media in a positive and appropriate way (find link)
  • Debating issues
Example: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/feb/18/students-frontline-battle-against-extremism

Inappropriate methods:
  • Engaging in illegal activity or associating with extremist groups
  • Disseminating information in order to create hatred or promote extremist ideology - there is legislation in the UK to make this an offence [Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006]
  • Leaving to fight in a foreign country
